Famous French poet and novelist Victor Hugo once wrote that “nothing is as powerful as an idea whose time has come.” If ever there was an example of these words, it is Vision 2030.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s recent interview was a manifestation of it, touching on all aspects of the economy and life in the Kingdom. It went beyond 2030, promising that its ambition would continue to 2040, by which time Saudi Arabia will have risen to be one the most competitive nations in the world.
RIYADH: Saudi Arabian petrochemical and chemical manufacturing company Sipchem is studying SR25 billion ($6.6 billion) of projects with the Ministry of Energy in the next decade through the Shareek Program, CEO Abdullah Saif Al-Saadoon said. Saudi Arabia launched the SR12 trillion Shareek Program in March to boost the role of the private sector in diversifying the economy, increasing resilience and supporting sustainable growth. Saudi petrochemicals group said that month that Shareek would help it double capacity within the next 10 to 15 years. Al-Saadoun said that Sipchem has signed an agreement with Germany’s Linde to expand into the industrial gases and clean energy sector through blue hydrogen, Al Arabiya reported.
DUBAI: Yemeni troops shelled Houthi militant encampments west of Marib, foiling their attempt to enter the province.
The artillery fire destroyed six Houthi vehicles and killed 20 militants, Yemen’s armed forces news agency September 26 reported.
The governor of Marib on Wednesday rallied troops to defend the territory against a Houthi advance in a potentially decisive fighting for the provincial capital.
Gov. Sultan Al-Arada vowed that the people of Marib, the Yemeni army and the Saudi-led Arab coalition would defeat the Iran-backed militia.
“We will not allow those who raise pictures of Qassem Soleimani to rule us,” the governor said. Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s Quds Force who was killed in an American airstrike in January last year.
